UK Supporting Artist Rates
Join the Casting Community!
Supporting artists will typically be engaged under one of two main union agreements:
- Pact/FAA Agreement: This agreement, between the Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television (Pact) and the Film Artists’ Association (FAA), applies to productions shot in and around London.
- PACT/Equity Agreement: This agreement, between Pact and Equity (the trade union for actors and performers), applies to productions filmed outside of London (i.e., beyond a 40-mile radius of Charing Cross).
While these are the primary agreements, productions may sometimes use a different rate card; for example, the BBC and Equity have a rate card that applies to continuing BBC dramas, and for commercials, the rates will usually be defined individually for each job.
These agreements set out the daily rate as well as overtime, penalties and allowance. See our Rates page for more information on the current rates.
The rates applicable to your project will be clearly outlined in the availability enquiry; if the rates shown for a film or TV production are not the Pact/FAA, Pact/Equity or BBC/Equity rates, or you have any questions about the rates, we recommend raising them with the relevant casting agency.
The Pact/FAA Agreement is the union rates agreement that governs the payment of supporting artists on productions taking place within 40 miles of Charing Cross. As such, the rates set out in this agreement apply to most productions shooting in London and the surrounding area. This agreement was negotiated between the FAA (the supporting artist branch of the union Bectu) and Pact (an industry body representing film and TV producers).
The Pact/FAA rate card includes a number of payments which are abbreviated on the EP casting platform:
- HC = holiday credit
- BM = broken meal
- MA = meal allowance
- SF = supplementary fees
- OT = overtime
- EC = early call
Please see our breakdown of the current Pact/FAA rates for further information about these payments.
The Pact/Equity Agreement is the union rates agreement that governs the payment of supporting artists on productions filmed outside of London (i.e., beyond a 40-mile radius of Charing Cross). This agreement was negotiated between the Equity (the trade union for actors and performers) and Pact (an industry body representing film and TV producers).
There are no up front, annual or other fixed fees of any kind to become or remain a supporting artist with Â鶹ֱ²¥.
EP Casting Community
If you are successfully placed in work by one of the casting agencies using the EP Casting Community, you agree for the agency’s commission fee and Â鶹ֱ²¥â€™ admin fee to be deducted from your gross earnings. The availability enquiry for an engagement will specify the rate of the agency’s commission and Â鶹ֱ²¥â€™ admin fee, along with all other relevant details such as your rate of pay, so that you can make an informed decision before accepting.
The agency's commission varies between agency to agency and can generally range between 5% and 15% of your earnings (plus VAT for agents who are VAT registered), depending on the engagement. Â鶹ֱ²¥' admin fee for supporting artists cast from the Casting Community is 10% of your earnings plus VAT.
Other agencies
If you are individually registered with and successfully placed in work by one of the other agencies using EP's casting technology, you will only pay commission to the agency. Â鶹ֱ²¥ will not charge an admin fee. The availability enquiry for an engagement will specify the rate of the agency's commission, along with all other relevant details such as your rate of pay, so that you can make an informed decision before accepting.
